Communion

The table is set, and we are invited...

Many years ago, I heard a man describe what kind of God we find in Christianity, and it cuts to the core of Christianity itself:

“In other religions, the people set the table for their gods. In Christianity, God has set the table for us.”

This is the God I know.

The Christian God is not one who needs to be appeased as we set out his favorite things, and we pray we find his favor that he might come to the table we have prepared for him.

Rather, we have already - all of humanity - found his favor, and he has set the table for us.

So come to his table and sit for a while.
